Thinking of becoming a financial advisor in Spain?

Due to its focus on science and technology, you may find it surprising that Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) offers coursework in the financial field. It does. In fact, several of the university’s financial advisory classes are recognized by the Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores (CNMV) as meeting the training requirements for professionals in the financial sector.

In addition, the European Financial Planning Association of Spain (EFPA España) accredits the university as a training center for 3 of its top 4 certifications:

EFPA España does not provide preparatory training for its exams, but it does have accredited training centers that have been evaluated by its accreditation and certification committee. This ensures that the programs developed by each training center, as well as its level of teaching staff and training materials, all meet the training and compliance requirements.

Peter Dougherty, financial planner for BISSAN Wealth Management in Spain, enrolled in the UPV as he prepared to take the 2 ½-hour European Financial Advisor (EFA) exam.

As Dougherty says, “UPV was the first public university accredited by EFPA España to offer 100% online training for its EFA exam. I was very pleased with the financial advisory training I received there. When I later prepared for Spain’s 6-hour European Financial Planner exam, I felt that the solid fundamentals I had learned thanks to my UPV coursework was of great benefit.”

EFPA España sets the standards for financial advisors and financial planners in all of Spain. Their website has a “Find a certified financial advisor” section that shows every registered financial planner and advisor (https://www.efpa.es/busca-tu-asesor-financiero-certificado)
