El Centro de Arte Hortensia Herrero Art
Valencia has so many amazing museums. One well-travelled and artistic Valencia International colleague recently commented that they felt they had seen some of the best curated exhibits in years while visiting Valencia.
The Hortensia Herrero Art Centre is quite simply another of those amazing spaces that has been so beautifully crafted and offers fabulous exhibits.
We will be offering a more extensive review of the center in an another article. However, the current show featuring the artist Anselm Kiefer runs through October 25, 2026 and is a beautifully presented exhibition.
The CAHH has holdings of the German artist and four of them feature in the eleven works in the exhibit. The artworks are monumental in their scope yet at the same time small and personal.

“The temporary exhibition occupies six galleries of the Centro de Arte Hortensia Herrero and brings together a total of 11 works by Anselm Kiefer, four of which belong to the permanent collection. Together, they offer an insight into the artist’s monumental and material universe, where history, landscape and mythology intertwine with references to literature, music and nature. Through layered surfaces, textures and materials, Kiefer creates images of great symbolic intensity inspired by classical myths, poems by authors such as Baudelaire, Walther von der Vogelweide and Rilke, and musical compositions such as Schubert’s Der Tod und das Mädchen.”
There will also be a special viewing of the Wim Wenders film about the artist at the ABC Cine on October 1, 2026 at 1930.
