The World is Getting the Point

Point is a curiously named Valencian furniture company that is achieving success abroad, as shown by recent contracts in Dubai and Mexico worth 1.6 million euros.

Based in Gata de Gorgos and Jalón, Alicante, but with an additional factory in Vietnam, the company, specializing in outdoor furniture, has been operating since 1920.

Many North European residents will remember Gata as the village full of cane and wickerwork shops along the main road until the new motorway put many of them out of business.

They currently have a production staff of 37 workers plus nine designers.

Recent international achievements include providing the seating for the famous Teatro Vidanta run by the Cirque Du Soleil theatre company in Riviera Maya, as well as two hotels in Mexico, and the deck furniture for the cruise ships of the Pullmantur Group line.

Exports now represent 62% of the company’s production, and the opening of a showroom in Dubai, has opened up not only the Middle East markets, but also in nearby African countries such as Nigeria and Ivory Coast.

Also in Dubai, the company has obtained contracts to furnish such luxury hotels as the prestigious One & Only Royal Mirage on Palm Island.

2014 was a good year, with a turnover of 6.1 million euros, and 2015 also looks promising, as the company now sells in over 90 countries around the world, with over a thousand outlets.
