APAVAC Concert from Indian born Spanish pianist

APAVAC, the Valencian federation of English teachers, once again delighted members and guests with a virtuoso piano performance at IES Luis Vives school of the works of Scriabin by Indian born Spanish pianist Yamini Teresa Prabhu.

Yamini started studying music under Mrs Vera Lobo when she was seven years old. She moved to Spain in 1999 and joined the Conservatori Professional de Música de Torrent, Valencia. In June 2006, she performed as a soloist, with the Conservatori de Torrent Orchestra.

In preparation for her entrance examination in Barcelona, she was under the tutelage of Maestro Leonid Nikolaevich Sintsev, Honoured Artist of Russia and Professor at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire, St Petersburg. In June 2011, she won a competition, which awarded her the prestigious Anna Riera Scholarship. Admission to this competition is by invitation extended only to students with a consistently exceptional aggregate in their musical studies over the previous three years.

In December 2012, she graduated in Piano Performance at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona, under Maestro Rafael Salinas. She then did a Postgraduate course with Prof. Katia Veekmans in Maastricht, Netherlands.

Since 2014 she has been studying under Maestro Pavel Dombrovsky at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music in Moscow, Russia. She will present Thesis for her Master’s Degree in Advanced Studies of Piano Performance on The Early Works of A. N. Scriabin in December 2015 in Barcelona.

She currently teaches Piano Performance at the O Grove School of Music (Spain) and performs in India, Russia, Galicia, Cataluña and Valencia.

She has performed in India at the Alliance Française de Bombay and the NCPA (National Centre for The Performing Arts) over the last two years. She has also done several promotions for Steinway Pianos at the Yash Raj Film Studio, where she recorded a selection of Scriabin Miniatures in January 2013. She also did a series of Lecture-Demonstrations on A. N. Scriabin in Universities and various Institutions around Spain in 2015.

In November 2009 and 2014 she performed in St Petersburg, Russia at the Leonid Nikolaevich Sintsev’s 65th Anniversary Commemorative Recital. She has also performed in Moscow, Barcelona, Valencia and Vigo.

She composed and directed the music for the play “MĀ, El poder del Cos” that premiered in Barcelona in March 2012. The Company then released an album with the soundtrack in September 2013 called “MĀ, El poder de decidir.” The album was presented in Circol Maldà (Barcelona), Café Miles (Amersfoort, The Netherlands) and Skek (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) between February and March 2014. She also composed for the play L’Ultim dia de Febrer, by Cia laHydra.
