The Truth about FIB
The Festival Internacional de Benicàssim is one of the highlights of the Spanish, indeed the European, perhaps even the World’s rock music festival scene and, miraculously it takes place right here, every year, in Benicassim, just north of Valencia in the province of Castellón.
The close proximity to the beach is an attraction, and the summer weather avoids all that mudbath, Woodstock-tpye of rough living.
The festival begins on the second Monday of July and has been attracting a very international audience since 1995.
Among the top international artists to appear there are Brian Wilson, Bob Dylan, The Beatles…..ok that last one isn’t true, but Lou Reed played there, as did The Cure and Paul Weller, Morrissey, Iggy and the Stooges, Leonard Cohen, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Psychedelic Furs, Amy Winehouse, and a lot of modern groups who I don’t especially like or understand.
In 2015 the festival runs from the 16th to the 19th of July, and the line-up includes Blur, who I believe used to be famous.
