Caxton College Students Gain Admission to Distinguished Universities such as Oxford

Universities that top worldwide rankings have accepted students from the most recent graduating cohort of this British school in Valencia.

The prestigious British school Caxton College renews its commitment to academic excellence every year, as demonstrated by the outstanding results obtained by its Sixth Form students.

Due to their exceptional performance, a number of these students are about to start their undergraduate degree programmes at some of the most important universities in the United Kingdom. Educational institutions of worldwide renown such as Oxford, Imperial College, King’s College and University College London (UCL) have accepted students from Caxton College, which has been educating students for almost 40 years and has once again demonstrated that it prepares them to a very high level.

These results are not only a testimony to the effort and dedication of the students, but also to the unwavering commitment of school’s team of teachers, who work constantly to offer a personalised and innovative educational experience. Accredited since 2017 by the prestigious British Schools Overseas (BSO) inspections with a rating of excellent in all areas, the school has established a high standard at all key stages (1 to 18 years of age), placing it among the best British schools outside of the UK.

Regarding the academics at the school, Sofía Adelantado, who will study Aerospace Engineering at the famous Imperial College in London, said, ‘The values of freedom and equality that have played a fundamental role in my education, both at home and at Caxton College, allowed me to choose my degree programme without a gender bias or fear of new challenges. In the past year, I have seen that with effort, perseverance and willpower, dreams can come true’. Another outstanding student, Minanga Jayasekera, will study Chemical Engineering at the same British university.

Additionally, Blanca Blasco, who is about to start an Economics degree at the well-known King’s College in London, said that ‘being admitted to this university was the result of years of effort, since it’s a very complex process. Having achieved my aim is very rewarding because, thanks to this opportunity, I will be able to grow both personally and academically in a demanding and international environment. I’m really looking forward to this new chapter’. Together with Blanca, her classmate Julieta Pérez-Rosas has also gained a well-deserved place at this university for a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. Jake Lee is the third fortunate student to have been accepted to this university, in this case to study Physics.

Most of this group of students obtained grades of A* in their British A Level subjects. Their applications to university also included individual interviews, admission exams and submission of personal statements. Diego Devis, who will soon start his studies of Engineering at the prestigious University of Oxford, agreed that ‘the admission process for Oxford is long and very demanding. I had a personal interview where I had to resolve mathematical problems during the conversation with the interviewer. I also had to sit a very difficult admission exam, in addition to submitting a personal statement explaining the reasons behind my interest in studying there. After all of these steps, they offered me a place conditional to getting top marks in the A Level exams I sat in June at school. And with a lot of work, I got the grades I needed! The split teaching system really helped me to understand the subject matter from different perspectives and in greater depth. My teachers were the key to my success, because they explained everything very clearly and were always willing to answer any queries. They encouraged me to keep improving and to face any challenges head-on’.

This most recent graduating cohort of Caxton College has followed in the footsteps of previous students who in past years opened the doors to outstanding universities such as Cambridge, MIT, Berkeley, Harvard or the London School of Economics. This level of achievement and determination is clear in the declarations of Pedro Gil, who is about to begin a degree in Biochemistry at the distinguished University College London (UCL). ‘Ever since we were little, Caxton College has instilled in us the values of perseverance and effort, pushing us to be the best versions of ourselves, both on a personal and academic level. In addition, the excellent teachers at the school knew the best way to motivate me and keep up my interest in every lesson. Lessons weren’t just about getting good grades, but about acquiring a greater depth of knowledge of the subject matter and adapting teaching methods to the individual needs of each student. Thanks to the constant support from the school, I was able to develop essential skills to help me face both academic and personal challenges with confidence. This was key to achieving the level of excellence that was required to gain a place at UCL’.

In addition to these students who have been admitted to some of the best universities in the world, Caxton College notes that the average Sixth Form grade for its 109 pupils was a very commendable 8.5 over 10. As a result, a large number of its students have been accepted to their first choice of degree programme at a wide range of public and private universities with high academic levels in Spain as well as in the US and the rest of Europe.
