The American journal Rfid noticed the innovative work of the Valencian company Mysphera and was influential in the company’s nomination for the ‘Internet of Things – IoT’ competition.
On the 5th May 2016, in Orlando, the company won first prize in its category.
All of us always like to be treated like people, not like numbers, but there are times when we prefer efficiency to sensitivity, and when we are in hospital is one such situation.
I don’t really care if my doctor sympathises with my aches and pains; I want him to know exactly what’s wrong with me, what needs to be done, where I am and which leg is the one to be cut off.
Fortunately for people like me, Mysphera is on the ball. MYSPHERA offers a Real Time Location System (RTLS), which was created for the healthcare sector in order to improve the quality of care and system management.
RTLS facilitates the Identification, Location and Tracking of people and assets to increase patient safety, optimize processes, use the existing resources more efficiently and optimize the whole hospital management; which you have to admit is much better than having half a dozen patients screaming at the nurse because she shaved the wrong place.
How does it work? With unique and unambiguous assignment of tags to a person or asset, the indication of patients and assets in striking distance, a login-application using automatic and clear identification, an alarm in case of a false patient and reliable assignment of clinical data to the corresponding patient
In other words they know who you are (and who you aren’t), where you are and what your status is.
Patients receive a tag on checking in, which communicates with fixed and mobile beacons throughout the hospital, so any doctor or other hospital worker has immediate up to date information about the patient.
The system is being used in the recently built state of the art Hospital La Fe in Valencia, where there is a network of 1,110 beacons installed in different areas to provide location, tracking and monitoring of more than 1,500 patients and more than 1,000 assets daily.
Mysphera’s IT partner is März Internetwork Services AG, a successful IT service provider and system integrator for the healthcare industry with more than 30 years experience as a provider for hospitals, group practices and rehabilitation clinics across Europe. The German company provides a comprehensive services and sales network, with 9 offices and 220 employees in Germany.
The German connection was demonstrated with a joint display at MEDICA, the world’s largest medical trade fair and congress for Medical Technology, Electro Medicine and Laboratory Equipment in Düsseldorf in 2013.
