Fuji Museko, Museros

Museros, a village north of the city of Valencia, houses the HQ of Mitsubishi’s European operation, and so it is possibly appropriate that a state of the art Japanese restaurant should open there.

Taking over a car showroom on the old Barcelona road, Fuji Museko is an assault on the eyes, with two floors of decoration in which bamboo predominates.

The ceiling is an onslaught of dangling forms, with large birds looming.

Most of the chairs are swivel, allowing you to feel a little more executive than most of the time.

The novelty of Fuji Museko however is the technology. No more trying to catch the eye of a waiter. Each table has a computer, on which you can place your order and then wait for the food, which is typical Japanese fare, if a little better than most.

In fact Alex the cook came over to our table to check that everything was alright. Speaking perfect Spanish, he is clearly second generation and eager to please.

We dined in the first month since opening, and though there wee inevitable teething problems, especially for dinosaurs like myself, as long as you are accompanied by somebody born after 1960, you’ll be ok.

It’s a set menu, the price depending upon the day and time, so you can eat as much as you want, and keep ordering.

Carrer Joanot Martorell, 80, Museros.
