The largest manufacturer of cardboard cores and tubes on the Iberian península is the Valencian company Mandriladora Alpesa, S.L.
They have three production plants with the capacity to manufacture over 45,000 tonnes of product each year.
This SME was set up in Tavernes de la Valldigna, Valencia in 1991 in order to manufacture cardboard mandrels, tubes, rings, edging, profiles and pallets.
With 130 employees, the company recently won a contract to participate in the construction of La Seine Musicale in Paris.
The Project consists of turning an old Renault Factory built in 1929 into a sustainable cultural icon for the city, with 1,000 square metres of solar panels that turn to face the sun like sunflowers, and 30,000 rings on the ceiling provided by Alpesa in collaboration with a specialist company, Frapont.
Work started on the Project in February 2016, working to the specifications of the Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, well known for his humanitarian work in designing shelters for disaster victims from available materials.
