VLC URBAN ART FESTIVAL

The ‘VLC URBAN ART FESTIVAL – BARRIS EN MOVIMENT filled the city of Valencia with art from 25th to 29th September 2019, focusing on the neighbourhoods of Grau and Cabanyal/Canyamelar.

This new festival is the result of a collaboration between the Italian Cultural Institute of Barcelona, the City Council of Valencia and the EMT (Empresa Municipal de Transportes) of Valencia.

The Italian connection of this festival is largely due to Eleonora Battiston, an Italian art critic and curator based in Valencia, who has previously collaborated with museums and galleries in China, Italy and Spain, and is in charge of the artistic direction of the festival.

The Festival began on 25 September in Las Naves with the inauguration of Fruit, the Bologna art publications fair that for the first time arrives in Valencia, and will host talks, book presentations and two documentaries: “Numero Zero. Alle origini del Rap Italiano” by Enrico Bisi and “I am not alone anyway” by Veronica Santi on the story of Francesca Alinovi, curator and street art visionary.

Saturday 28th September was dedicated to music with the presence of Valencian and Italian rap/hip hop groups that will alternate from 18:00 to 1:00 in Las Naves.

It is hoped that this will be the first edition of a permanent arts festival in Valencia.
