Speaking for the Animals

“Persona [no] humana” by Álex Cuellar and Rafa G. Sánchez is a documentary, produced by Dacsa Produccions. It reflects on the concept of non-human person, a proposed legal status to be granted to certain animal species.
The feature-length documentary by the Alicante directors Álex Cuellar and Rafa G. Sánchez has a poster designed by the Valencian illustrator Laura Valero.


The documentary, filmed in Valencia, Madrid, Burgos, Alicante and different locations in the USA, Argentina, Brazil, Scotland and Holland, debates the legal figure of “non-human person”, which grants the three fundamental rights to life, liberty and non-torture to certain species.
Argentina 2015. Sandra and Cecilia have been locked up all their lives without having committed any crime. An NGO is fighting for their release. The big problem is that Sandra and Cecilia are not human. They are an orangutan and a chimpanzee.
In the coming weeks the producers will launch a crowdfunding campaign, the proceeds of which will go towards finishing the post-production of the documentary.
