The BBC Philharmonic together with soloist Ewan Millar performed Oscar’s “LEGACY” concert for oboe and Symphony Orchestra.
Last Sunday 2nd of May the grand final of the TV programme “BBC YOUNG MUSICIANS” broadcasted by the UK TV channel BBC FOUR took place. This programme aims to promote and support young talents in the world of classical music.
After several months of competition, three young talents managed to reach the grand final of the competition in which they had to perform a piece together with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, one of the most prestigious orchestras in the United Kingdom.
“LEGACY”, a concerto for Oboe and Orchestra by the composer Oscar Navarro from Novelda, Alicante, was the work chosen by the 19 year old talent Ewan Millar, who performed it masterfully, receiving great praise from the jury and other contributors to the programme.
Although he did not win the prize, young Ewan has big plans for the future and no doubt a meteoric career ahead of him.
This concerto for Oboe was commissioned by the Oboist Ramón Ortega (Soloist of the Bavarian Radio Orchestra) in 2015, and has become one of the reference works in the world of the oboe in recent years, being performed by great soloists from all over the world in a large number of concert halls.
Oscar Navarro, on the other hand, continues to expand his repertoire of solo works, having already closed two new commissions for Bassoon and Symphony Orchestra or Saxophone and Symphonic Band.
