American Graffiti Returns to Dénia.

Well, not exactly, but Spain’s first ever drive-in cinema does, although it will be Jurassic Park and The Minions that relaunch this cultural icon after the Corona Virus lockdown.

The cinema’s premiere was on the 9th June 1979, when Glenda Jackson starred in The Romantic Englishwoman.

The usual problem of cinemas is whether to eat early before or late afterwards, but with a drive-in that problem is solved; you do both at the same time, and you don’t disturb your neighbours with all that slurping and rustling of paper.

The usual capacity of 300 cars has been reduced to 100 and the bar has been closed, but otherwise the American Graffiti experience is the same; you can even smuggle friends inside in the boot, as long as they have a ticket.
