A Taste of Spain in Valencia

LIVE LIFE AS A VALENCIAN FARMER WITH RUSTIC ESCAPES

Rustic Escapes offers unique personalised experiences in distinct rural locations. Partida de la Mar

near Valencia has just opened (May 2019) and is a beautifully restored 19th century alquería (a silk

maker’s farmstead) in the huerta of Valencia, Europe’s largest agricultural coastal plain.

Stay in this traditional Valencian homestead which combines rustic charm with modern and

comfortable style. The alqueria looks over orange groves and fields full of artichokes and tiger nut plants

(used to make a drink called horchata, which is a speciality of Valencia.) Guests are immersed in the

peace and beauty of nature in this important farming region.

Partida de la Mar offers escapes celebrating the cultural, historic and gastronomic delights of Valencia

and the surrounding areas. One of the escapes, ‘Monumental and Gastronomic Valencia’ particularly

explores the eclectic food in Valencia offering guests both traditional and innovative gastronomical

experiences. One week for four people £90 per person per night which includes full concierge service

accompanying guests and drop-off service as well as the paella workshop, local wine tasting, eel and

potato tapas, daily cleaning and welcome hamper.

Other activities are optional extras.

For all escapes, Rustic Escapes contacts guests before arrival to discuss what they would like to do

during their stay – see the website for what is included and what are additional experiences. Guests

have 24 hour support during their stay from our local representative and many escapes include

concierge service (a local expert who advises and takes care of all the reservations and driving) leaving

the guests free to enjoy the delights this fascinating province has to offer.

Valencia, home of paella

Paella is a world-famous dish which originated in Valencia. Guests can learn to make paella and pick

up some traditional Valencian cooking skills from one of the local farmers. Visit the historic and vibrant

city of Valencia to stock up on fresh produce from the renowned market and pick artichokes and beans

from the property’s kitchen garden to add to the paella which is cooked on your terrace. You could

also visit the area where the local paella rice is grown.

So much to see and so little time!

There is so much to explore in this fascinating region:

Highlights of these escapes can include visits to country villages to sample local fare and seafood

restaurants by the sea along with tours of Roman walled towns and local monuments. Visits are

arranged to suit each guest’s preference, giving an in-depth understanding of Valencia’s heritage.

Trips to local wineries and wine tasting alongside workshops which teach guests new skills are run

alongside personalised and tailor-made guided tours of local historical buildings.

Maybe spend the afternoon aboard a traditional eel fishing boat on the largest wetland in Europe,

looking for herons amongst the reeds, waiting for the fish to jump.

Learn how horchata is made and enjoy it with a delicious pastry (called a fartón) in a horchatería just

across the fields from Partida de la Mar.

Catch a tram and explore the vibrant and historic city of Valencia or cycle to a country train station to

catch a train to Sagunto, to see its still active amphitheatre and Roman walled citadel.

Energetic guests can take the complimentary bicycles at Partida de la Mar and cycle to the restaurants

or the 1 km to the beach in the evening.

Rustic Escapes really does offer guests the choice of unforgettable experiences whilst local famers

offer insight into their traditional way of life. We personalise your stay to suit you.

The escapes are designed for four people staying three to seven nights. See our website below for
