The lady who paints with light.

By Chris Dennison

Ernst Haas, the famous 20th century Austrian photographer, once wrote, “There is only you and your camera. The limitations in your photography are in yourself, for what we see is what we are.”

On Thursday 14th of September 2017 at 18:30, an impressive photographic exhibition by Teresa Fluvià was inaugurated in the Salon de Actos of the Colegio de Registradores de la Propieded, Mercantiles y Bienes Muebles de España  in the Plaza de la Reina number 5 in Valencia.

This is not just another exhibition of excellent photographs, which, of course, they undoubtedly are; it is much more than that. In many respects, the works have an uncanny resemblance to figures taken from the oil paintings worthy of the Old Masters themselves because, as Teresa herself explains, she does not simply “take” photos, she “makes” them.

The images that Teresa creates are not merely extremely high quality photographic records, but rather, they are meticulously constructed works of art of immense creativity in themselves. What she does is to enhance the images by using different modern processing techniques to modify the illumination, backgrounds, colours, textures and tones; she quite literally “paints with light” and the results she obtains are strikingly beautiful and original. So, why not treat yourself to a visit to the exhibition? All the photographs are ready-mounted and framed and so you might even like to acquire a new work of contemporary photographic art for your own home.

The exhibition will be open on weekdays only until 29th September from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 17:30 to 19:30.
